The Division of the State Architect (DSA) provides design and construction oversight for K–12 schools, community colleges, and various other state-owned and leased facilities. DSA also develops accessibility, structural safety, historical building codes and standards utilized in various public and private buildings throughout the state of California.
BASE Architecture, Engineering and Planning are “DSA stake holders” which are building professionals that assist with amending the current and future building codes.
Building professionals (Architects, Engineers and Inspectors) review codes that might use language that can confuse, be ambiguous, or too broad and might not be the intended use. By reviewing, and discussing these sections in code using a discussion forum setting that is open to the public and allows not only the building professionals to weigh in, but people the code was written for have an opportunity to listen, comment and suggest changes that can better the code itself.
