Our Design Philosophy

Good design has the power to change lives

BASE was founded because we believe good design has the power to change lives – our passion is making communities better places to live, work and play. We create great places for people by transforming the underutilized parts of the existing urban areas with the functional use of our designs. We begin our projects with an understanding of the local environment, and then create the foundation for our design from community workshops and strategic planning. We believe built environments should reflect context, history, cultures, communities, and the natural environment while incorporating advances in technology.

At BASE, sustainability is simply good design.

Since the firm’s beginnings, sustainability has been pivotal in all our work. Our team of architects and designers apply sustainable design principles throughout all their projects. More and more of our clients are achieving net zero energy, water, and carbon goals through design. This requires a visionary and innovative approach to understanding the interaction between natural and technical systems and the impacts from all design decisions.

Transforming communities one project at a time

At BASE, we believe that great architecture shows respect for the environment and for people. We believe in design that endures and is timeless, where art meets function in a space that elevates and restores, now and for future generations. We believe connecting neighborhoods with great walkable streets and open spaces to nurture community cohesion for diverse groups of people, activities and experiences.
